Welcome
Dear Visitor,
We welcome you to the website of the European Thermoelectric Society e.V. (ETS), an independent organization dedicated to promoting scientific and technological research on thermoelectricity and its applications.
ETS was formally established in Switzerland in 2012 as an independent non-profit association. However, our history began in 1987, when the 1st European Conference on Thermoelectrics was held in Cardiff, UK, organized by Prof. M.D. Rowe. In 1995, ETS was founded as a regional organization of the International Thermoelectric Society, with Prof. H. Scherrer serving as its first president, becoming fully independent in 2012.
From the outset, ETS has promoted all aspects of R&D on thermoelectricity, embracing the interdisciplinary nature of this field, where foundational issues in physics and advanced chemistry converge to create novel classes of devices that meet the demanding needs of diverse applications. This is why ETS serves as a network linking physicists, chemists, materials scientists, and engineers – and, more importantly, it bridges academia with stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. The best way to see how this truly works is by joining ETS. Our newsletter is open to non-members, but to discover thermoelectricity and our community – and what thermoelectricity can do for you – you should participate in our annual European Conference on Thermoelectrics (ECT). Whether you are a scholar eager to explore the forefront of research in this field, or an industrial developer seeking solutions for energy savings through waste heat recovery or more efficient cooling, ECT is the place to be.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your tour of our website and let’s stay in touch!
Dario Narducci, President of ETS
European Thermoelectric Society e.V.
The European Thermoelectric Society e.V. (ETS) is a non-profit organisation. The purpose is the promotion of Thermoelectricity in science, research, education, public and politics the promotion of young researchers and engineers in the field of Thermoelectrics.
Membership
ETS is open to individual persons with activities or interests in thermoelectricity from industry or academic institutions. Admission of new members requires the agreement of the Executive Committee and begins after payment of the membership fee. Registration for the European Conference on Thermoelectrics (ECT) involves an obligatory one year membership. The membership fee will be covered by the conference registration fee. Resignation takes automatically effect at the end of the period covered by the membership fee.
